Slow Cooker Dr Pepper Chili
This slow cooker Dr Pepper chili is a quick and easy dinner recipe that can easily be frozen for other meals. It is delicious with cornbread or sourdough bread.
Ingredients for Slow Cooker Dr Pepper Chili

- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2–3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can crushed tomatoes
- 1 can tomato sauce
- 1 can diced tomatoes
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 can kidney beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 can chili beans (with liquid)
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 cup Dr Pepper
- 2 tbsp chili powder
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp paprika
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- Pinch of cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
Directions for Chili

In a skillet over medium heat or in your slow cooker on simmer, cook the ground beef until fully browned. Drain excess grease if you are using a higher fat beef.
Next, Stir in the diced onion and garlic in your slow cooker. Cook for 2–3 minutes, until softened and fragrant.
If you cooked your beef in a skillet and not your slow cooker, go ahead and transfer it to your slow cooker.
Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, beef broth, kidney beans, chili beans, tomato paste, and Dr Pepper.

To make your slow cooker Dr Pepper Chili tasty go ahead and add your chili powder, cumin, paprika, salt, pepper, and cayenne if you are wanting it hot. Mix well and put the lid on your slow cooker.
Cooking Time

- LOW: 6–8 hours
- HIGH: 3–4 hours
You will want to stir your slow cooker Dr Pepper chili at least 1-2 times during the process. I do like using Slow Cooker bags to make clean up an ease.
Servings

We love the chili with cornbread or sourdough bread. We add some shredded cheese and sour cream when serving it.
Substitutions
If you don’t have Dr Pepper, you can use any dark cola you have. You can also substitute your favorite beans that your family loves.
